Catalyst 2019-2020
In the Fall, we read through the book of Jonah together; spending time on each verse, asking questions and reading Bible dictionaries, commentaries, and handbooks to discover answers for ourselves. From January until the end of the 2019-2020 school year, Bethel Youth will be journeying through the four Gospels in a similar way. Each Tribe (small group) will have one of the four Gospels and will discover what that Gospel teaches on each subject, theme, or event in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. At the end of each Catalyst, we will share with one another what each Gospel has revealed to our Tribe.
These are the Gospels that each of the Tribes will be reading through:
JR High Boys: Mark
JR High Girls: Luke
SR High Boys: John
SR High Girls: Matthew
As we have a limited time to read through these Gospels as a group we will be focusing on eight topics. However, we also want to offer opportunities to explore topics within the Gospels that we won't have a chance to discuss as a group. Therefore, we will provide resources for members of each Tribe to explore a topic they are most interested in between Catalysts and share (if they would like) with their Tribe or the whole group.
Here are the eight topics we will cover:
1. Four Gospels, One Jesus
An introduction to the four Gospels and the similarities and distinctions between them.
2. Preparing the Way
John the Baptist and the baptism of Jesus.
Matthew 3; Mark 1:1-13; Luke 3:1-20; John 1:1-34*
3. Fishers of Men
